next move

The day before we go back home started out just like any other ordinary day. I woke up, went through my daily routine, and got ready to go do some errands. I haven't feel like "Whoow! I'm really goin' home slash I miss Philippines mode"... But after a while, I changed my mind thinking about the time left for me to prepare, I asked my friend here to go some shoppings with me. I was definitely in the mood to go window-shopping. And after that, we decided to have a little make-over for ourselves...we've planned about having our hair done a week now.
So off we went. At around ten, there weren’t really that many people yet so we start buying and strolling around.
See, I have always worn my hair long and straight, you know, just getting a trim or two occasionally. So naturally, I just expected the usual 2-inch cut of my hair and some rebonding sessions. I want to try having a "real" hair cut when I get back in the Philippines (think so).
After that, we went to attend the Sunday mass and then we separated ways for some left agenda to be done...what a busy day for us!

people are people

Sometimes, in our busy everyday lives, we just find ourselves noticing the little things that we usually just ignore. You guys know how it is, right? So when I was doing groceries this morning (for my additional stuff to bring with me on my trip back home) and was waiting patiently in a long line to pay...I get bored so I looked around and busied myself with other things. I noticed the faces of people doing their shopping, some were serious, some were smiling, some wore expressions that are either confused or thoughtful. I also noticed the cashiers, how they go about their task mechanically, pushing stuff through the barcode scanner and trying to appear cheerful even though they’re not. Then I noticed families with their little kids, teenagers, couples all going through their everyday shopping. It’s quite interesting to watch people, actually. I don’t do it often enough, and I’m sure a lot of you guys can say the same… but sometimes, it’s quite entertaining. You can get a lot just by people watching. You should try it... :o)

mind over matters

Lately, I’m starting to feel the confidence creeping up on me slowly day by day. I’m starting to learn to love myself again. For so long, I’ve set myself aside, never really caring that much about my needs. I’ve focused on other people more, it’s like my whole world revolved around them. No wonder my happiness depended on them. But not anymore.
I’m starting to trust myself more again. I’m beginning to acknowledge my needs and fulfill my once neglected desires. It’s a wonderful feeling when you’re learning to care for yourself again. It’s never healthy to put yourself aside all the time just to please other people. If you make the decision to love yourself, everything else will fall into place.
Recently, I’ve also started to learn how to be more optimistic. It’s not easy, mind you. It takes a whole lot of will power and conviction. But one important thing that I realized, it’s no use worrying over everything that’s happening in our lives. If we surrender to a higher power, and just trust that everything is happening the way it is intended to, we will feel less stressed. I believe that the mind is very powerful. It is responsible for our actions and the way we see things. We can choose to be happy or sad. We can choose to look at the bright side or the dark side. It’s all in the mind peeps...!

my degree

I was reading this magazine news on the net yesterday, and I read about kids with mental and physical disorders. It was really heartbreaking. As a gradute of Psychology, I feel the need of these children to be taken care of both mentally and physically. There was this kid with cerebral palsy who couldn’t walk and a kid with autism who wasn’t interacting at all. It was sad to see those kids. They’re so young and innocent, and trying their hardest to have a normal life despite their disabilities. It’s saddening and inspiring at the same time. Seeing those kids will make you appreciate life more. My heart goes out to them.

sad love quotes..

So... everyone do feel hurt sometimes, right? Because when you love someone, you actually give that someone the right to hurt you...
Well, here's a list of sad quotes I've collected just to ponder and to be inspired of whenever I feel hurt... err, did I mentioned before that I collect diff'rent kinds of quotes too? Uhmm, more to come!

  • You have to forgive to forget, and forget, to feel again.
  • Breaking up is just like having the worst nightmare after having the best dream.
  • Letting go of someone dear to you is hard, but holding on to someone who doesn’t even feel the same is much harder. Giving up doesn’t mean you are weak! It only means that you are strong enough to let go!
  • Its amazing how someone can break your heart, but yet you still love them with every broken piece.
  • Oftentimes we say goodbye to the person we love without wanting to. Though that doesn’t mean that we’ve stopped loving them or we’ve stopped to care. Sometimes goodbye is a painful way to say I love you.
  • Never say goodbye when you still want to try. Never give up when you still feel that you can take it. Never say you no longer love a person when you can’t let go…
  • Who do you turn to when the only person who can stop you from crying is the one who is making you cry?
  • God can heal a broken heart, but He has to have all the pieces.

junk foods i miss...

I was eating O-REO cookies one day and I realized (after maybe more than a hundred pieces of nibbling) that it tasted just like Tivoli Funwich! Then I started to remember my other daily favorites before then...I even searched online for a picture of or site about it...had no luck. Instead, I was able to pull up a message thread that talks about food entitled “What food do you crave for na wala na ngayon?” It's an old thread though...like 2 years ago. I'm sure some of my 'same age' friends would remember these! I like these from the list:

* triangle shaped Vicks candy ( I got addicted to this!)
* Granny Goose nibbles
* stay fresh (small green mint candies - still available but not the same quality)
* Cheezels & Chikadees of course (with the free toys inside)
* Expo nuts ( just like the Nagaraya cracker nuts in the market lately)
* Zebzeb (cheap version of chiz curls)
* Nognog! (those twin cheesy barrels)
* Bazooka bubblegum with the comics wrap (do they still have these available?)
* Mcdonald's strawberry sundae & milkshake (miss it soo much!)
* Serg's chocolate bar and curly tops ( my fave classic chocolates...yumyum!)
* Choknut bars ( a combination of powdered chocolate and nuts that tastes like peanut butter and,
* yes...Nano-Nano...Nano-Nano... hahaha!

I know there's a lot...I just need more time to dig through my memory lane.

where does your world end...?

I came across this photo while surfing the net the other day. It has raised many viewpoints. As the question asks, where does your world end? This got me to thinking to what some would answer to this.
The picture shows a very limited area of the photographer's world. Moreover, in reality there are many that this is their world. You may not agree but think of this. How many people think of the whole world as being part of their lives? Not many, right? Most of us have our families, work and friends that make up our world. So do we not in fact limit the world around us?
We are only limited by our minds as to where we can go in this world. We are the ones who put limits on ourselves, yet we seem to blame others for our shortcomings. We are only limited by what we are...except, if you only expect the best then you will strive for the best, so do not limit your sights. Aim for it all not just what others tell you to aim for...got it!
